SJI alums had a big showing in the 2022 APSE Contest, winning awards in multiple categories across all divisions.
Candace Buckner ('01) of The Washington Post earned Top 10 honors in Commentary in Division A.
Wynston Wilcox ('15) of the Commercial Appeal in Memphis earned two Top 10 Awards in breaking news and short feature in Division C.
Jonathan Abrams ('04) of the New York Times and Alexander Prewitt ('10) of Sports Illustrated each earned Top 10 honors in breaking news in Division A.
Also in Division A, Marcus Thompson ('98) of The Athletic and Daniel Oyefusi ('19) of the Miami Herald won with a team in the event coverage category.
In Division C, Landon Bost ('20) of The News-Press (Fort Myers, Fla.) earned Top 10 for best feature photo.
In Division D, Richard Silva ('22) of Montgomery Advertiser was part of a team to get Top 10 honors in event coverage.
The division are based upon news organization circulation.
