The Sports Journalism Institute welcomed its 32nd class on May 29, as the 17 students and their instructors prepared to assemble in Phoenix on June 1 for a deadline-filled bootcamp at the Cronkite School at Arizona State University.
The students are hearing from SJI alums such as James Wagner of the New York Times, Rachel Bachman of the Wall Street Journal, Chris Chavez of @CitiusMag, Joel Lorenzi of The Oklahoman, and Logan Murdock of The Ringer. APSE president Naila-Jean Meyers is also expected to speak to the students.
The class will assemble on June 1 for four days of training, covering live events and hearing from prominent sports journalists, including ESPN’s Stephen A Smith, Michael Wilbon and Lisa Salters.
The first live deadline assignment for the Class of 2024 will be covering the WNBA Mercury taking on the Los Angeles Sparks on June 2.
