Sports Journalism Institute

Helping women and minorities get into newsrooms since 1993

I’m Chancellor Johnson, a senior at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State. I’m heavily involved in campus activities, including serving as VP for ASU’s NABJ chapter, and working as a broadcast reporter for the student-run Walter Cronkite Sports Network, covering ASU football and basketball. In high school, my passion for sports journalism helped me become a fellow with the Emma Bowen Foundation, which brought me an internship at FOX 26. Among the highlights of my three years at FOX was covering Super Bowl LI. I’ve also worked with the NCAA as the official social media host for the Final Four in 2017 and 2018. Now I hope to use this SJI opportunity to sharpen my skills as a writer and make connections in the industry. I will be in Bristol, Conn., for my summer internship at ESPN.
