The Sports Journalism Institute’s Class of 2010 is now complete with the selection of Malik Smith and Aaron Hilton of Hampton. Those students will receive grants provided to APSE by the Scripps Howard Foundation and will receive training for their summer internships along with the rest of the SJI class at the institute’s annual “boot camp” the first week of June at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Smith will be an intern at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Hilton will be an intern at the Sacramento Bee.

There are 11 students in this year’s class. This is the 18th class of SJI, which welcomed its first group of students in 1993 and has since sent approximately 200 women and minorities into the nation’s sports departments. For more information on the Class of 2010, click here.
